Vocational education and training is not a new phenomena and it goes way back to the ages of mankind in one form or the other. To keep alive human beings used different types of skills to fill up their stomach by agriculture, hunting and entertainment by using theire skils.. They have developed their hunting skills by preparing crude common fine weapons to get their pray easily.
This development continued from centuries and man become knowledgeable to develop various weapons / mechainry which can be used in their war in group lashes and welfare of the society. It developed step by step and he learned reading and writing and also developed the moderan skil technology.
Due to their constant struggle people develop fine skills and infrastructures to gain the ownership and become a chief of the tribe to take care of their subjects and boundaries. Both welfare and security developed hand in hand from ancestrial age to today modernage. In this process various types of skills learned by a man for his prosperity. This phenomenon is not only for India it is applicable for all over the globe.
In this process of development of skills and knowledge it is categorized in to diferent levels like ITI /Diploma engineering depend upon the qualification and techniques.
The Industrial training at ITI level is the basic step to learn the skills to become technician / Mechanic. The eligibility of the candidate is 5th std to 10th std depend upon the course. Govt. of India, continued this program started from British Raj and expanded its activities in different skill development programs through ITI
Initially the ITI started at Govt. level as demand raised for trained candidate , Govt. open to pvt organization to enable them to start Industrial Training Centres.
Though the pvt ITCs development was slow but due to development of Industries with modern technology, the growth of the pvt. ITIs increased in multifold from 1990s.
As on today approximately there are around 10,000 pvt ITIs and about 3000 Govt. ITI’s imparting various types of sklls in all over India. ThoughThe volume of pvt ITIs incured in one hand certain problems also developed symaltaneously. To solve theire problems the pvt. ITI from each state formed a Association to represent the Govt. for amicable solution.As Individual State ITI Associations could not achieve the goals it is felt by all the need of National level Asociation. Hence Federation of ITCs of India was formed in 1992 with few eminent personalities under the guidance from Prof. M. Ranga Rao, who is presently called Founder and National Co-ordinator .
